About Me

My background

I qualified as a Management Accountant back in 2008, and have spent far too many hours sat in front of a computer dealing with stressful situations and tight deadlines. As much as I love spreadsheets, I do know there is more to life. I am keen to keep myself as active as possible and calm my mind when I’m away from my desk.

I have always enjoyed music and am one of those people who finds myself jigging along to it wherever I am – and regardless of whether I actually like the song or not! But I have discovered (after many attempts) that I’m not great at partner-based or formal dancing. As much as I like it, and as much as I love dancing, it just doesn’t seem to be my forte.

My first Chakra Dance

I experienced Chakra Dancing for the first time at a retreat in Yorkshire in February 2015. I had no idea what it was about or what to expect, but I was more than willing to have a go… and when I did, I thought it was amazing! It felt like such a release to be able to dance as I wanted to, and how my body wanted me to. It wasn’t about following anyone else or pulling off any tricky manoeuvres. There was nobody watching or judging my awesome moves!

We spend a lot of our adult lives being self-conscious about how we look in front of others, but when I’m chakra dancing or meditating it is time for me to just be me. Often I get so lost in the dance I don’t recall the moves or sounds, but with that first experience I remember it very clearly. I was making lots of sweeping heart-shaped movements with my arms. I pictured family and friends one by one and sent them love and light from my energy to theirs. At the end of the dance this wonderful loving energy was palpable both within and surrounding me. I obviously felt a real need to give and receive love at that point in my journey.

Why I trained as a facilitator

I kept looking for chakra dancing events or classes near to where I live, but couldn’t find any. I felt so drawn to do this that I decided that if there wasn’t anyone to facilitate classes in my area I would be bold and train to be able to do it myself. It’s so exciting to now be a qualified Chakra Dancing and Creative Meditation therapist and have the chance to share the numerous benefits with other.

I love that they are such inclusive practices. No matter what age, shape or ability, they offer the opportunity for us to feel more liberated and empowered. It’s a chance to give something back to ourselves, away from hectic modern life. Our body always knows exactly what we need to heal and to be at our optimum, we just need to give it the opportunity.

My Passion

I am passionate about being able to create a loving, safe and non-judgemental space for us to explore and bring ourselves more in tune with our own energy centres; to embrace who we are and express that in the best way for us. Every move is welcome, every non-move is welcome. Let’s celebrate our uniqueness and just have a good time!
